Review: Hooked (Decadence Nights) by Maddie Taylor

BLURB:
Thirty-eight-year-old legal secretary Olivia Wright’s clock is ticking and she’s afraid she’s running out of time to find Master Right. Several times she thought she’d found the Dom of her dreams, but instead of the prince she sought, he’d turned out to be a slimy toad. The last one had dumped her unexpectedly and nearly broken her. Now, after a long dry spell, she’s ready to try again. She’d really like it to be with the man who’d caught her eye three years ago, but that man is her boss and despite her best efforts, and tightest skirts, he hasn’t spared her an extra glance. Resigning herself to unrequited love, she attempts to move on, procuring an invitation to an exclusive BDSM club, hoping Club Decadence will be the answer.

Joseph Hooks isn’t your typical Dom. He’s NBA tall, with no police or military background to speak of, wears tweed suits, of all things, and on an occasion the dreaded bow tie. But behind his somewhat nerdy appearance is a handsome, green eyed, strict but sensual dominant who’s also hell on wheels in a court of law. He’s wealthy, powerful, successful, and enjoys popularity among the subs at his private club, at least those who don’t flee from the swishing sound of polished rattan, but he’s exhausted his search for his perfect submissive and concerned about coming up short. After a frustrating day of watching his gorgeous secretary’s delectable bottom in an incredibly tight skirt, he heads to San Antonio to blow off steam and maybe make a connection.

He thinks she’s terminally vanilla and straight- laced. She thinks he’s not into her, or with the way he ignores her curves and tight skirts, possibly gay. Hopelessly oblivious to what has been staring them in the face for three long years, Joseph and Olivia continue their aimless search for love. Then, one night, as a storm brews outside another rages inside as their paths converge. Will Olivia finally get the Master Prince she deserves, or will her past prevent her from realizing her dream? Will her presence at the club be the sign that Joseph needs to wake up and at long last claim the woman he’s yearned for all along?

Dakota's Review:

Holy smokes, Batman. Ms. Taylor packed enough sizzle into this book to make even a hedonist like myself pant.  I am a huge fan of the workplace - boss/p.a. trope (cause lets face it - thats where the majority of women see guys on a day to day basis.)  And this book didn't disappoint. It had the right amount of chemistry between Olivia and Joseph.  Add to the kink factor, and I was in hog heaven. Fast paced, this story tore up kindle as I read it all in an entire setting. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next book in Ms.Taylor's Decadence Nights' Series. (French Kiss)

I give it a totally awesome 5 out 5  Naughty Cuffs

Review: York (The Verge Crew, Book 3) by Laurann Dohner

BLURB:

Watching his crewmates fall in love has left York craving a female of his own. That’s how he ends up being matched to a Parri female through a service to find bond mates. He’s excited at the prospect when he arrives on planet Relon. Until he actually meets her.

Betrayed by her government in a bid for alien technology, poverty-stricken human Sara is doomed to be a prince’s sex toy, until she’s rescued on a planet that doesn’t take kindly to slavers. Suddenly free, she’s an outcast on her new home, treated with distrust…by everyone except a gorgeous, kind, huge blue alien. Too bad he’s getting married the next day. His future bond mate is a horrid, abusive woman, and Sara has a way to save them both—she’ll convince York to bond with her instead.

Review:  First let me say, I've been a huge Laurann Dohner fan from the first time I picked up Fury, the first book in her New Species Series. I've read everything in that series, her Mating Heat series, her Zorn series as well as her Cyborg series.  Pretty much anything she'd put out when she was with E.C.   Even after they closed, I've devoured her new series - VLG books and her newest series The Vorge Crew.

York is the third book in that particular series, and one that I was really waiting for. I wanted to see the big blue guy get his story - particularly after Ms. Dohner let it slip in one of the earlier books that he likes to be told what to do in the bedroom - it's a quirk of his species - they enjoy catering to their mates every whim, and they don't just crave their mate's touch but need it to stay healthy.  So my little inner freak was definitely squealing about that.

Needless to say, once the book hit my reader on Tuesday, I spent part of Tuesday night unwinding with my reader in hand while my grandson watched his show on tv.  I thoroughly enjoyed York and Sara's story. Their chemistry and emotion closeness really drew me in. Ms. Dohner did a great job making both of their motives and reactions realistic. There was no sex just for sex sakes.  Even though it was a great book, it seemed to end too soon for me. I was hoping to see a bit more of a power exchange (that's the inner kinkster inside me) but even without that dynamic, the scenes were sizzling and very satisfying.  I give York 4 Naughty Handcuffs.

Review: Wet Dream by Jenna Jacob

WET DREAM
Brea Gates has spent a lifetime surrendering her paycheck, her body, and her ever-lovin’ soul to one worthless man after another. She’s determined to steel her spine and give up romance for good. No one possessing a Y chromosome for her. No way. No how. No men!

When she visits friends in tiny Haven, Texas, she finds blessed peace—for five minutes. One glimpse of rough-hewn cowboy Sawyer Grayson blows Brea’s man-ban to hell, making her ache to get her hands on what he’s packing in those tight blue jeans.
After a failed marriage, Sawyer swapped “Mrs. Right” for “Ms. Right Now.” Though he refuses to risk forever with a gold digging she-devil again, he’s all about a cold beer and a willing woman...or three. But he knows instantly that Brea is different. She's the kind of wet dream who tempts him all night. And she just might be the only one who could lure him back to the altar…

Review:
So lets be honest here, I've met the lovely Ms. Jacob at several signings but until I picked up Wet Dream hadn't had the chance to read her work. (Which is kinda ironic, since we write in the same genre.)

Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed by the Sawyer and Brea's story. The chemistry between them was white hot and I loved the character development that Ms. Jacob  put into both of their characters. Neither character was perfect and that was great.  I love realistic people who screw up, make mistakes, then fight for their happily ever after.

I can say that I'm hooked and look forward to sink my teeth into the next book, Beefcake.

Review: The Hobb by Dana Marie Bell

So it's time for my weekly review again. This week I'm diving back into a series I have let languish for too long.  The Grey Court Series by Dana Marie Bell. In the past I've reviewed her Halle Shifter Series, and had totally forgetten about this series. I read the first two or three books a while back and lost track of Ms. Bell in the shuffle of every day life.   So I found this gem lurking on my reader - patiently waiting for me.

Title:The Hob (The Gray Court, Book 4)
Author: Dana Marie Bell
Length: 264 pages
Buy Link: Amazon

BLURB:

Robin Goodfellow has met his match.

The Gray Court, Book 4

When the Black Queen kidnaps one of the White Queen’s nephews, Robin Goodfellow is sent to ensure that the young prince safely returns to the bosom of his family. True to his role as Oberon’s Hobgoblin, he is ready for anything…except meeting his truebond, the very delicious, very humanMichaela Exton.

Michaela has dreamed about a flame-haired rogue named Robin Goodfellow since she was a little girl, but everyone knows Puck doesn’t really exist. In real life, it’s a dark-eyed man named Ringo who makes her heart beat faster.

She is closer to her dream man than she thinks, and nobody knows it better than Robin, who wears the guise of Ringo. But there’s competition for her love in the form of Lord Raven, who holds a secret that will rock the foundation of Robin’s world. As a Black Court delegate does the unthinkable, leaving an enraged, grief-stricken Robin hanging onto his humanity by a thread, only Michaela has the power to bring him back from the killing edge—if she survives.

Review
So, what can I say...once again Ms. Bell, has captured my attention with the wonderful world she created with the Gray Court. This author has an amazing way of making you want to devour each book.  She has reoccurring characters that are as captivating as they are unique.  So when I saw that the Hob's story was available, I actually squealed with joy.

I fell in love with Robin in Dare To Believe (the first book of the series) The little snippets that the author skillfully scattered through the story as Leo's story unfolds, only whetted my appetite for more.   He's such a fascinating character, that I just knew it would take a special woman to harness the Hob's heart.   And boy was I right.  Michaela is anything but average.  She makes your heart bleed when you find out that she takes care of sick kids, day in and day out.  Then makes you laugh when she goes to a fairy cos -play convention with the most hideous (and I say this effectionately) pair of green sparkly wings.

But what I love the most is how she takes the all powerful, and dangerous Hob and knocks him on his ass.  She doesn't back down, even when she finds herself attracted to both verisons of him (Ringo and Robin.)

As always, Ms. Bell has created a story that I can really sink my teeth into, with both strong main characters, and a loveable supporting cast.  Of course, I now want Lord Raven's...(opps almost spoiled Ms. Bell's secret there)  and Big Red's stories.  The former, I see is already available.  But *pouts*  I don't see Red's story....and seeing I've already read the book and the way she ended it...well, I'll be stalking her page for a release date on his book.  While I'll give The Hob a very enthusastic  5 Naughty Cuffs,  you were truly mean to end it the way you did.

Review: In Heat by Leigh Wyndfield

So when I'm not writing I try to squeeze in a bit of reading - and this week I stumbled across a forgotten book on my kindle. Since I was in the mood for something different, I opened it up and...I don't regret it.  Ms. Wyndfield writes extremely HAWT sex....but I'll let you check out the review....

Title:In Heat
Author: Leigh Wyndfield
Length: 177 pages
Buy Link: Amazon

BLURB:

A mating ritual as old as time could be the death of them both…

Jax’s yearly mating cycle couldn’t come at a more inconvenient time. He’s on the verge of ending seven years of exile and claiming his birthright, but for 24 hours he’ll be vulnerable to his enemies, alone and in agony—unless he can find a willing partner. He thinks he’s found the perfect solution in the beautiful slave Waverly. He’ll buy her at any price, and after it’s over, he’ll give her the one thing all slaves crave. Freedom.

But Waverly isn’t really a slave. She’s a transport pilot double crossed by Junkeaters and sold to a notorious gunrunner. Escape is the only thing on her mind—and she better disappear fast, before her own heat reaches a crescendo.

Before she can slip away, the overpowering need to mate crashes over them, the intensity taking them both by surprise. But the Inter-World Council is out to hang Jax for a crime he didn’t commit, Junkeaters are hot on their trail, and ruthless arms traders are gunning for them.

Their passion may burn hot enough to last a lifetime, but first they must survive.

Review
I just started this series, and damned...can I say I love Leigh Wyndfield?  So far I've read several books by her and I have to say this one is my favorite to date.  I love Jax...and want to be Waverly when I grow up.  Seriously! She's a kick ass heroine that keeps her man on his toes - even while driving him insane with lust.

Ms. Wyndfield has a deft hand when it comes to blending sci-fi with erotic romance. She kept this reader on the edge of her seat - weaving in suspense that had me cheering for the good guys and praying that the bad guys got their just reward.

So if you're looking for a book that has it all - action, suspense, familial angst, and dear lord - hot as hell sex, then this book is definitely for you.  I give it five naughty cuffs!

Review: Intimidator (Preyfinders - Book 2) by Cari Silverwood

So when I'm not writing I try to squeeze in a bit of reading - and this week I tried a new to me author.  I found this book thru a fellow Excessica author's (the lovely Candace Blevins)  Facebook feed.  To say I'm not disappointed is an understatement. While the love story is more than apparent...the sex was rough and sizzling...but I'll tell you more about that in the review.  All I can say right now is thank you to Candace for turning me on to another delicious author to feed my paranormal addiction.

Title: Intimidator (Preyfinders - Book 2)
Author: Cari Silverwood
Length: 207 pages
Buy Link: Amazon

BLURB:

Willow has her hands full scraping out a life in a grungy neighborhood where drugs and crime are the norm. Life is hard, but it’s about to get harder. Being transformed into a sexual pet for an alien warrior may be her only way out.

But Stom, the man she’s been awarded to as a battle honor, has no use for a female, not when his heart is still in a million pieces.

Though the need to be Stom’s mate is overwhelming her, mending his heart isn’t going to be enough. His enemies are searching, looking for the women who are more than they seem, and she’s in their hands before she discovers she’s more-than-human.

Sometimes it sucks to be a chosen one.

Review

So not only is this series new to me, so is it's author.  However, I can't say that I have been disappointed. First, off let me warn you however that some may take offense with the mere idea of Preyfinding (there is a chemical exchange between the hunter and his 'pet' that some might say borders on non-consent) However I found it to be a spicy topping to the solid world building that Ms. Silverwood created.

But then again I love BDSM and some of the rougher aspects of it (in my reading material only - in real life I'm more a BDSM lite type of girl).  I find the idea of thrill of the hunt where the master chases down his 'pet' then claims her to be very...shall we say squirmy - lol.

Even so, with all the steamy sex and power exchanges going on, Ms Silverwood managed to pack an action packed plot into Intimidator. I love the sci-fi thing she has going on, as the heroes conquer the factory queens.  In this second book, I found myself drawn to the culture that the author created as Stom warred with his instincts and a vow he took years ago.

While I won't give away Ms. Silverwood's thunder, I will say his struggle kept me on the edge of my seat - making me at times want to cheer him on, and at others looking for the nearest blunt object to bend over his stubborn head.  He's just that type of character.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and give it a four and half naughty cuffs.  The only draw back I had is....that I was sad when the story ended - but not because of where the author left it....but because damnit I want Talia's and Brask's story!  July 28th can't come soon enough!

Review: Rain by Taryn Kincaid

So when I'm not writing I try to squeeze in a bit of reading - and this week I dived back into a Beyond Fairytales story, by the delightful Taryn Kincaid.  As an author I've written for this line, so I know the challenges it represents - however as a reader, I find most of these tales whisk you away as they redo the classics.

Title: Rain
Author: Taryn Kincaid
Length: 69 pages
Buy Links:  Amazon

BLURB:

Sleeping Beauty in a post-apocalyptic land…

In a world gone mad, where little remains but a vast wasteland of sand, the leader of a troop of roving warriors welcomes a brave young woman into his midst.

Much as he burns for her, Major Clay Worthington swears to keep his distance from the mysterious woman, so sensitive even the stinging rain can wound her.

Rosina Brierly is besotted with the formidable soldier and will gladly trade her life for one torrid night of blissful passion in his arms.

But when sleep overcomes them, will true love prevail?

Review

So what to say about Taryn's foray into the Beyond Fairytales line? Overall, I truly enjoyed it. I loved the spin she gave Nicodemus (he has a very strong presence in Rain).   I also got a giggle or two out of the Arthur references and the twist Ms. Kincaid put on the names for her characters. She kept them very close to the original tale. (For those of you who don't know Briar Rose  was actually Sleeping Beauty's name, in the original fairytale.)

I felt very drawn to her hero.  Clay was a self-aware man. He knows his flaws as well as his own control. I have to say he put up the good fight before giving in.  I love a hero with a conscious. Of course it didn't hurt that the chemistry between Rosina and him was off the charts.  Frankly, I'm surprised they resisted as long as they did.

Ms. Kincaid did a fairly good job, drawing me into her post apocalyptic world - however I will give this warning, as reader, you have to really pay attention to the storyline or you might find yourself scratching your head.  But if you enjoy a bit of intrigue, with a storyteller who isn't all he seems and love conquers all, this Beyond Fairytale is for you.  Which is why I give Rain 4 Naughty Handcuffs.

Review: Kristen's Addiction by Evangeline Anderson

So when I'm not writing I try to squeeze in a bit of reading - and this week I dived back into one of my favorite genres - paranormal.  Of course one of my go-to authors for this is Evangeline Anderson.  I picked up several of her books, but had a chance to finish Kristen's Addiction (that has to of my favorite yummy things - a sexy a sin vamp and hunky mechanic all rolled into one.)

Title: Kristen's Addiction
Author: Evangeline Anderson
Length: 134 pages
Buy Links:  Amazon

BLURB:

Dr. Kristen Johansen is a respected pediatrician. With her sexy plus-sized figure and long blonde hair you’d think she’d have a man. But her demanding career has put her love life on hold, until she’s attacked late one night and becomes an addict—of vampire venom. Now she has no choice but to go out after sundown, offering herself to anyone with fangs who wants a late-night snack. Which is how she runs into Joe, the last person she would have suspected of being a vampire. Blue-collar and hard-core, Joe works as a mechanic and hides his intellect behind his skill with a socket wrench. But what he really longs for is an extra-curvy woman with appetites to match his own. After an explosive sexual encounter, Joe offers Kristen the chance at a cure. But as they work together to find the rogue vampire who attacked her, Kristen begins to wonder if her addiction is turning into love. And whether regaining her old life is worth losing the only man she has ever cared for.

Review

What to say about this book.  Well, other than the fact I fn loved it! Not only was the sex beyond hot, it featured two of my favorite things. (A dark mysterious vamp, and hunky mechanic). Ms. Anderson did an absolutely wonderful job of layering the characters - building them up until all I wanted to do was peel away each one until I got down to their hearts.

Kristen is absolutely the best conflicted heroine I've read in a long time. She's not whiny in the least bit, meets not only her weaknesses, but her challenges head on.  Whether it's her surprising desire for Joe or the craving for his bite, she refuses to back down, even when there are times she should.

As for Joe.  I love how much an oxymoron he is. He's a physical man - who loves to work with hands, tinker in the garage, but  at the same time hides an intelligence behind his 'grease monkey' facade.  I even found the idea that he waits until he can no longer resist to feed - making each encounter explosive for both him and his partner.

Ms. Anderson did a wonderful job of building her alternative world. The idea that there is a hotline that those who need to be bitten are matched up with those who need to bite, just fascinates me.  Add to it the traditions of the challenge Joe presents to the villain of the story, make this a book that is both a mixture of old and new.

So if you're looking for a great sexy read featuring a rough around the edges vamp and the woman he loves...this book is for you.  I give it a totally awesome five out of five naughty handcuffs.

Review: Going Solo by Dani Wade

So when I'm not writing I try to squeeze in a bit of reading - and this week I picked up fellow NGWN author, Dani Wade's Goin'Out Solo.  Below is a my review of her book (and FYI - I bought this book - so in noway am I being compensated for my review - it was something I wanted to do!) With that being said, onto the review.

Title: Goin' Out Solo (A Backstage Pass Novella)
Author: Dani Wade
Length: 88 pages
Buy Links:  Amazon

BLURB:

Rock star Nate Hawthorne’s good-guy status is as iconic as his black cowboy hat, despite his personal struggles. Now faced with his own mortality, he must choose whether to continue being the good friend, the good band mate…or risk being very, very bad.

Sara Drayton has overcome a nightmare childhood to stand on her own merits, even if her overprotective brother can’t see it. Nate has been her forbidden fantasy for years. Now he’s offering her a no-strings weekend at his cabin to fulfill all her desires—except her wish to be his forever.

Nate knows he’s breaking the rules by taking Sara to bed, but he’s desperate for the peace he can only find through her touch. With death on the horizon, can forbidden love bring one man back from the brink of an uncertain future?

Review

So what should I tell you about this book?  Well, for one keep an hanky ready.  I shed a few tears at the climax of the story.  (And no don't ask me to give away Dani's thunder. If you want to know what happens pick up the book...lol.)

One thing I will reveal however, is that author did a wonderful job dealing with a sensitive subject, creating characters that lived, breathed and have gone thru hell and back to get where they are.  Both Nate and Sara have their own set of issues, but I still fell in love with them and was rooting for them to make it.

Another thing I liked as I read was the fact that Dani didn't do the 'quick fix' that I see some authors do. Both Nate and Sara had to grow to make it work. Which I personally think is the cornerstone of any relationship.

I am ashamed to say, this is the first book in this series I've read, but rest assured I'll be going back to find the earlier books. I need to know their stories too - Dani created a world that I plan on visiting again!   Which is why I'm giving Goin' Out Solo, a Four & Half Naughty Cuffs :)

Excerpt:

Just outside of Castle Tullamore, 1615

“Stop him. He’s getting away.” The panicked voices of Chichester’s guards filled the almost dawn landscape, replacing the usual sounds of the curlew chirping, announcing the rise of the sun, the beginning of a new day.

Cian Finnegan grinned, pressing the necklace more firmly into his hand. They could search for him all they wanted—Chichester’s cronies wouldn’t find him. He’d spent enough time hiding out and running from authorities that he could virtually disappear from sight any time he wanted. No one knew the path he was walking even existed, thanks to the numerous landowners who had taken over Tullamore through the years. Thank the heavens for short memories.

And right now, given that he’d just stolen a small fortune in the form of a ruby necklace from the haughty Arthur Chichester, or to be more specific, Chichester’s wife, Cian had no intention of being caught with the pilfered jewelry. He’d sell it, buy passage on a ship heading for anywhere, and be done with the misery that was Kilmorny. Wherever he went, no one would know anything about his father or what the bastard had done to soil their name.

Somewhere where the ladies would fawn on him and the Chichester devils wouldn’t be staring down their British noses at the poor commoners too low for their haughty notice.

Cian stopped in his tracks. A shiver traveled up his spine. He turned around, scanning the area as best he could. The darkness didn’t bother him. He’d walked the dirt paths in the blackness enough that he knew every ditch, every large stone, every possible disaster. The sun would be fully up soon and the dots of light appearing over the horizon gave him more than enough brightness to navigate his surroundings.

So what had him jittery?

Nothing alarming called his attention. The air blew lightly around him. His friends would be long home from the pub, not knowing that he’d done what he always wanted to do, taken the crimson symbol of all that was wrong with his world right out from under their noses.

The guards were going the wrong way looking for him. He grinned. His nervousness had to be some kind of delayed reaction to the whole night. Nothing more. Unless the rumors proved true and monsters really did roam the countryside at night.  He turned back around. Nope. He would not—could not—let his imagination run away with him. Not when he’d got so close to acquiring everything he’d ever wanted out of life.

With his hands in his pockets, he strode down the path toward his small cottage. He’d spend one more night sleeping in poverty before he moved on to the next phase of his existence.

Soon, Kilmorny would barely factor in his memory. He rounded a sharp corner, colliding with something in the still-dark morning. Falling backward, he stumbled two steps before he caught himself. Dodging to the right, he tried to make sense of what had happened. What on earth had he run into? A tree? A wall? Had he misjudged his location?

“Easy there, Cian. You’re not going to find me swinging around like that.”

Cian jolted to the right, in the direction of the voice that had spoken to him. He hadn’t recognized it.

“Who’s there?” He tried wildly to figure out who he was talking with. Had the guards somehow found him?

“You don’t know me. But I know you. For the last three weeks you’ve traveled these paths at this hour. Planning something, were you? From the way you smell tonight, I’d say you accomplished your goal.”

DAKOTA'S REVIEW:
What to say about this book. I loved Cian. He was such a flawed hero, but one who wanted to be better.  I also loved the chemistry between him and Felicity.  Very nice indeed.  I would say Ms. Royce perfectly matched up these characters and gave a unique twist with them - a twist I'm not going to give away.  I will say however there were times I thought my reader was going to melt from the pure tension between Cian and his lover.  So if you love a book that has a bit of darkness...well a lot of darkness, give this one a whirl. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT AND REVIEW: Dragons Lair: The Summoning

BUY LINKS

BLURB:
As dragon shifters, Remy and Philippe had spent their lives searching for their perfect mate, and in Lilly Montague, they found her. But enemies from their past are threatening their happiness. Dragon law dictates that they must meet the issued challenge and face their enemies in battle. But when Lilly sees them in Dragon form, will she be able to accept them?

EXCERPT:

Lilly Montague smiled, her full lips curving upward as she savored the glide of her lover’s hand over her thigh. It had been only six months earlier that she had first met Philippe, in the very same exclusive club where they now indulged their desires. Sprawled atop him, her breasts crushed tightly against his chest and the hard ridge of his massive arousal pressed intimately into the juncture of her thighs, she savored the sensation. Still, there was something missing, or someone, more particularly. She was trying not to think about it, but her mind refused to cooperate. Lilly had two lovers in fact, two beautiful men who saw to her every whim and desire, as well as to one another’s. Rising on her elbows, she stared into Philippe’s handsome face, noting the honey-colored scruff that shadowed his firm jaw, highlighting the supple curve of his lips.

When he met her gaze, he sighed just a bit. “Stop thinking about it.”

Lilly’s sigh matched his. “I know he’s only been gone for a few days, but it feels like an eternity.”

Philippe’s hand moved farther up her thigh, disappearing beneath the hem of her skirt, and encountered nothing but bare skin. “You need a distraction, cher.”

Lilly shivered as his hand coasted over her behind, his fingertips lightly dipping into the cleft. “Don’t tell me,” she said. “Show me.”

It was only seconds later that she felt his lips on hers, claiming, ravaging her mouth in a hot, almost brutal kiss. His left hand fisted into her hair, using the dark locks to tug her head back. The other hand continued the sensual torment, sliding over the curve of her behind, between her parted thighs, his thumb circling the tight rosette while his fingers delved between dew-slicked folds. She let out a soft moan, unable to hold it back. There were other people in the club. The bartender was stocking the coolers with beer and other refreshments, and the new waitresses were in the storage room, doing inventory to make certain that all members’ toy chests were accounted for. Lilly thought of the first time she’d been in the storage room, seeing the various and sundry items that the club’s members used for their pleasure. Remy had been with her, his hot gaze like a physical caress on her body. She hadn’t known then who she wanted more, Remy or Philippe. It had never dawned on her to imagine that she would have them both.

“So wet, so hot for me,” he murmured, his teeth scraping over the sensitive skin of her throat. It wasn’t the first time he’d done that, and she knew it would leave a mark. But the delicious shivers arcing through her body made it more than worthwhile.

Remy stepped into the dimly lit interior of Dragon’s Lair, his own private domain. At the end of the hallway, entering the main room, he paused and took in the scene before him. On the far side of the room, in the private alcove reserved for the three of them, Lilly and Philippe were ravishing one another. The hot kisses, the sight of Philippe’s skilled hand pumping into the sweetness of Lilly’s cunt, had him hard instantly. He didn’t have to make a sound. Philippe looked at him over Lilly’s shoulder, and Remy felt the zing of connection between them. There was a fantasy building in his mind, a tableaux that he allowed to play out for Philippe’s benefit. It had been nearly a week since he’d had them, since he’d tasted either one of them. Other things would wait, but his passion would not.

Moving toward them silently, he began to remove his tie and then his jacket. By the time he reached the alcove, his shirt was unbuttoned and his cock was raging. Philippe was urging Lilly on, whispering hot, erotic things to her that did not leave any of them unaffected. Her top went first, some gauzy confection that only highlighted her feminine appeal. It landed in a dainty heap on the floor, followed by her skirt. Clad only in high heels and a black lace bra, she straddled Philippe’s hips, rocking against the massive erection he sported for her. Moving behind her, Remy slid his hands over her shoulders, down to the soft globes of her breasts. He closed his fingers over her nipples, pinching them with just the amount of force she liked. She shuddered and leaned back against him.

“I’m so glad you’re home,” she said on a dreamy sigh.

He smiled as he claimed her mouth, tasting Philippe’s kiss on her lips. “I’m glad to be home... I’ve missed you. Both of you.”

DAKOTA'S REVIEW:
Wow....this book should've come with a warning label. Sexy dragon shifters, where nothing is taboo. I absolutely loved the dynamic set up in this book between the three characters. For a short book this one is fairly well rounded. I would've loved to see how they managed to capture Lily's attention at the beginning of their relationship but the author has done a wonderful job filling in what was sure to be a very hot courtship as Phillipe and Remy pursued and then finally claimed their dragonswan. I love the chemistry between the three and the only wish the book had been longer.

Review of Deadly Relations - Book Three by Alexa Grace

BLURB:
In Deadly Relations, a serial killer of young women hides in plain sight in a quiet county in the Midwest. He hides behind a friendly face that inspires trust, a personality that is charming and persuasive — and has a rage to kill he can't control. Detective Jennifer Brennan, still haunted by her abduction five years before, devotes her life to serve and protect others. So when three young women go missing and are found murdered on her watch, she vows to find the killer — or die trying. A personal relationship with her partner, Detective Blake Stone, would be violating the strictest of the department's unspoken rules and career suicide, especially since she is the sheriff's daughter. But the connection Jennifer has with her partner, Blake Stone, is nothing short of electric. Working with him daily and denying her attraction is hard. But when he moves in to protect her, it becomes unbearable. As they fight temptation, two detectives race against time to find the killer before he strikes again. It is the most important case of their careers. It could be their last.

EXCERPT:

Catherine Thomas awoke from a drugged sleep with every bone in her body aflame. Breathing in and out triggered a torturous throbbing in her head.

She wanted her mom. Though in her early twenties, Catherine had always needed her mother most when she felt ill. Though she rarely got sick, she knew something was very wrong.

She shivered as the cold seeped into her consciousness. Why was she freezing? Where were her blankets? Catherine tried to move her legs but they seemed frozen in place. She attempted to stretch her arms, but couldn’t. Her eyelids felt heavy and swollen and she feared the pain that would accompany opening her eyes to the light. But she had to find her mom. Catherine slowly opened her eyes to inky blackness. Was it night time? Her facial muscles flexed involuntarily and she realized something was tied around her eyes. It was then she remembered.

She and Nicholas had had another fight. This one was a doozy, and she’d slapped him, leaving an ugly red mark across his jaw. Though he hadn’t admitted it, she knew he was seeing someone else. He’d been distant and his usual insatiable desire for sex had diminished so much it was practically nonexistent. There was someone else, and he didn’t have the balls to tell her.

Consumed with anger, Catherine had rushed out of his house and drove home to change clothes to go for a run. Running had become her salvation. She ran when she needed to think or to drive away her demons.

She’d changed into her running clothes and was pocketing her keys and cell phone when her dad appeared in the hallway. Catherine remembered smiling at him. For a second, she’d been tempted to throw herself into his arms for one of his special bear hugs. But, instead she’d hurried to her car so she could make the most of the remaining light of day.

Catherine’s original plan was to run at the high school track like she usually did, but once she got there and saw the number of people running, she’d changed her mind. She’d needed some alone time, so she’d backed her Honda Civic out of the lot and headed toward Deer Run State Park ten miles away. If she hurried, she could get her exercise done before the park closed at nightfall. She’d feel better about her fight with Nicholas. Running made her feel better about everything.

Once inside the park, Catherine had studied a sign that listed each trail and the degree of ruggedness. She’d chosen trail number ten, which was advertised as moderately rugged and would give her a good workout. Maneuvering between several groups of people leaving the park, she’d reached her trail and started out in a jog on the narrow, dirt path. Catherine noticed few people on the trail, and that was fine with her. She valued her alone time and concentrated on the exercise.

Catherine hadn’t gone far when she reached a wooden platform built over a deep ravine. Peering over the railing, she saw the river surging below and a deer drinking on its bank. She continued down the trail, alternating between jogging and walking, depending on the terrain. It was unseasonably warm for March, and the scent of the tall pine trees and ferns filled her senses. Catherine was calming. With or without Nicholas, she was going to be okay. She was stronger than she gave herself credit for. Who needed Nicholas? She’d go to the Police Academy in eleven months and start the career of which she’d always dreamed.

Catherine slipped as she made the descent to what the park labeled as the “Ice Cave.” She slid a few feet on her bottom, but was able to stop herself by grabbing a sapling. Pulling herself up, she assessed her injuries to be just some scratches and scrapes on the back of her legs.

Her senses went on alert. Catherine felt as if someone were watching her, but when her eyes scanned the wooded area, she saw nothing. She continued on the path down the hill.

Once she’d reached the sandy bottom, she stood before the Ice Cave. A twig snapped. Spinning around, trying to spot any danger, she heard the crackling of dry undergrowth with each step as someone approached nearby. Was someone following her? Catherine launched herself into the next section of the trail, cursing herself for being so angry with Nicholas that she lost all thoughts of personal safety. When she hiked, she always had her small stun gun and a pocket knife with her. Sticking her hands in the pockets of her sweatpants, she felt only her cell phone and keys. She turned her cell phone on only to find there was no signal. Damn. She turned if off again and shoved it back in her pocket.

Catherine pushed on as the path wound around a steep hill. On one side of her was a thick forest of trees and vegetation, on the other was a slope that led to the rushing creek below. She stopped frequently to look back, but saw nothing. Figuring she was at the half-way point of the trail, she pushed forward and prayed she’d make good time getting to the end.

The sun was waning in the horizon in hues of orange, pink and red. Daylight was running out, and she quickened her pace as she brushed a spider’s web from her face. The crunch of brittle leaves and twigs behind her continued, but each time she searched the thicket of woods, she saw dark shadows sheathing the trees as the light diminished — but no humans in sight.

Turning a bend, Catherine lost her footing again and tumbled down the descent of the dirt path. She crashed face-down to the bottom of the slope, knocking the wind out of her. She lay on her stomach for a short while as she sucked in air to fill her lungs.

Catherine felt him nearby, rather than saw him. She rolled over and looked up at him. She recognized him. Thank God. She’d seen him at the cafe. Catherine smiled at him as he offered his hand to help her up. Grasping his hand, she pulled herself up and was about to thank him for his help when he swung her around, slamming her body against his, gripping her in place with his left arm locked around her neck. Catherine’s eyes widened in terror as she noticed the hypodermic needle in his right hand. An explosion of pain rocked throughout her body. Her world went to black as he plunged it in her neck.

Her heart slammed against her ribs with the memory. Where was she? She tried to move her arms and legs again, but it was impossible. The effort to move caused the structure she was lying on to creak and rock. Catherine moved her fingers to scratch at the surface and realized she was secured on a long, wooden table. He had her strapped to a wooden table, with a dark blindfold stretched across her eyes! She couldn’t move. She couldn’t see. What was he going to do to her? A primal scream started in the depths of her chest and rushed through her throat until she discovered her mouth had been sealed shut with tape, muffling the scream into a moan.

DAKOTA'S REVIEW:

I loved reading the conclusion of this trilogy. Just as the first two books in this series, the plot took center stage as Jennifer and Blake hunted down a serial killer.  I loved the fast paced action of this book, even as our hero/heroine attempted to resist the chemistry brewing between them.  It was great to also revisit old characters in this book, like Jennifer's father - the sheriff, but more importantly I was happy to see Jennifer thriving after what had occurred to her in the last book.  (but I'm not going to spill on that count. You'll have to read Deadly Deception for that.)  All in all, I'd say this book was a great follow up to the second and greatly enjoyed reading it - so much that I read it in one sitting. Kudos Ms. Grace :D
