Okay here's the scoop, I've joined the Spanking Challenge A-Z. The idea is to start with A and make your way through the alphabet, a letter a day. So this is how it will work. I will post a new letter each day...except on Saturdays which is already full with two other weekly posts. By the end of the month, I should reach Z...so why not join me and root me on?

Wax play is considered to be part of sensation play. It's grouped with things like fire play and ice play. Basically any kind of play that can be used to heighten your senses. Today instead of teasing you with a snippet or two highlighting wax play, I thought I'd give a few tips and hints to arm yourself before you try this kinky activity at home. (Just so you realize you're not just grabbing an ordinary candle and dumping it on your partner. Not only is it likely to burn the hell out of them, it's also a good way to piss them off or break their trust. Neither would be pretty.)
First of all, be informed. Learn about the different type of candles. White paraffin wax (115-126 degrees) or votive candles (131-141 degrees) are good. They burn at a lower temp and are great for beginners. Where as beeswax candles burn at a much higher temp and the likelihood of harming your partner is greater. Also be aware some of the colored candles may cause your partner to break out - especially if they happen to be sensitive dyes or certain scents. So do your research! 
Second, safety is a must! As in any type of kinky play, make sure you think of safety before you begin. Just like having a good sharp pair of leather sheers for when you tie someone up, wax play has its own rules. Make sure where ever you have the candles burning is a stable and level surface. Place a drop cloth under your sub. It makes easy clean up and protects whatever surface you choose to use. Always keep ice, a bowl of water and cold towels near-by. A first aid kit is a must as well. Remember you may be playing with wax, but it takes fire to start the melting process.
And third - three helpful tips. 1.)Wax won't come off easily from synthetic fabrics or leather. So having your sub dress up in your favorite PVC suit and then decorating it with hot wax? Not a good idea. Not only will it ruin your fetish gear, it may just melt it to your sub's skin. OUCH! 2.) the use of oil on the skin beforehand will help with the removal of the wax after it hardens. 3.) A blunt knife or ice scraper will help with the removal as well.
Even with these hints and tips...always, I mean ALWAYS do your research, talk with your sub and remember BDSM's motto is Safe, Sane and Consensual for reason!

That was an interesting post, there are special candles for that, right? When I see the pictures of the girls covered in wax, I don't know. I guess I feel a bit for them. Just sudden pain and that's it right? Not like spanking where the pain gradually builds. We never tried waxing, perhaps that is the reason why I think of it like that.
