BDSM Unleashed Blog Hop

Where it all began...
I'd like to say that I've always know I was submissive, but I can't.  For me it was an evolution. I'm not the typical submissive woman. In my normal life I'm a wife, a mother, a full time student and author. I have to be firm and have an backbone of iron just to make it through my average day.  Not that I'm complaining - not in the least. I love my life, even as chaotic as it can be.  So during this chaos when and where did I first realize I was submissive....well let me tell you that's a story.

I've always been fascinated with bondage even as a young woman. I used to read the bodice rippers - you know the historical romances with the torrid images of a scantily clad woman in the arms of a strong alpha male? The ones that were so popular during the 80s and 90s?  Well I devoured them like crazy through out my teens and early twenties - which was about the same time I started writing. (Never historicals though - I just don't have the patience to do all the research they require.) So instead I started writing contemporary erotic romance.

Which leads up to how I met Jen.  Jen is quite the woman to say the least and was assigned to be my editor when Excessica picked up my first book.  It was a contemporary romance with just a bit of spice in it where the hero loves bondage and his best friend, the heroine has to be convinced that their friendship can survive the transfer from friends to lovers.

As I was going through all these edits (and believe me there were many) I got to know Jen very well.  She's actually a slave and had been for many years by that point. As we discussed dynamics of the book, I being curious and wanting to know more about where my "kink" came from asked lots of questions.  Like most of the ignorant - I had no idea that submissive wasn't interchangeable with doormat. But as Jen helped me explore this side of me - one which I had kept hidden from my DH - I can to realize what I wanted was not dirty nor was it anything to be ashamed of.

So where did that lead me? Well, I came out to my DH and believe it or not, he's more ecstatic about it than I am...lol. But also about the same time that I was going through this process, I started writing Nisey's Awakening - the first book in my Doms of Chicago series. (if any of my characters is my alter ego - it would be Nisey.) She was a student, a young twenty something that had a horrible relationship with her mother, a strong one with her father and had a hard time trusting men due to an incident in her past, but despite it all had the courage to take what she wanted - even if she didn't know exactly what it was.

Like Nisey I was confused about what I needed - in essence knowing I needed something more but no clue how to get it or even what it was.  As I wrote Nisey's Awakening, with a lot of help from Jen and a few others in the BDSM world, I explored, grew and eventually changed. I accepted what I needed and am much better person for it.

Many who have read Nisey's Awakening have said that the book is very informative - that it teaches even as it entertains - even my father has read it and loves it - in fact it's his favorite book I've written and he could take or leave BDSM as a whole. But this book definitely shows more of me than any I've ever written. You could say it showing the "unleashing" of my inner submissive. Since then I've published four more books in the Doms of Chicago series with a fifth book in edits which will be coming out in August.

Now enough of this inner revealing - and on to the fun part - the giveaway!  As my prize I'm giving away one complete e-book collection of my Doms of Chicago Series including the upcoming book Convincing Rena for every ten entries.  (So what does that mean?  If I get 10 entries I give away 1 set, for 20 entries - 2 sets and so on.)  So what do you have to do to enter?

Just leave a comment at the bottom of this post with your email address (so  I can contact you) and tell me which "kink" in BDSM appeals to you?

And I'll even go first -  for me it's shibari bondage - just like Nisey's :)

Good luck and don't forget to stop by the other contributers of this hop!

  2. I don't know enough about the lifestyle to comment specifically, but I do own alot of BDSM romance. From what I've read, the aspects of pain to heighten a woman's pleasure appear VERY interesting to me.

  5. Since I began reading BDSM, I've brought a few things to my husbands attention. Some things worked, and some not so much. But I will say that I LoVe the unknown: being blindfolded, to not know what's coming my way? Oh yeah, that's for me *weg*
Some days I really want to get more involved w/ the lifestyle, and then of course, I pysche myself out! lol
    Thank you for the chance!

  9. The biggest kink to me is the D/s aspect. Dominance and submission, with or without pain doesn't necessarily matter, but I love the psychological aspect of it mostly. That and the power :) Though I am also a big fan of spanking.

  10. The D/s relationship appeals to me. There's a lot of trust involved and I have a hard time trusting. I don't know that I would be able to live it but I like reading about it.

I have only read about it, but the bondage and spanking are what appeal to me the most. Hubby is starting to become a little more dominant. ;)

  16. I'm pretty new to the bdsm arena, though like you, I have been fascinated by it for years and can't get enough of reading bdsm stories. I'd say my bdsm king would be, the whole idea of giving up all control, being blindfolded, spanking, nipple clamps, etc.

  19. I think what appeals to me is the being able to let go, being able to trust someone else. I would definitely try bondage because otherwise I may be tempted to run ;) I want my limits to be pushed as well. Sooooo now, I need to find someone I can do all that with!

  23. What a great post! BDSM is my favorite sub-genre in erotic fiction, since I've always had an interest in bondage. I never knew there was a lifestyle centered around it until I started reading erotica. I'm definitely going to need to check out your books even if I don't win. :)

  30. I would have to say that the kink that appeals to me the most would be bondage and submission, with some impact (light) thrown in, cause I could not do heavy impact because I take blood thinners and have a tenancy to develop blood clots.
