Hey peeps, once again it's time for Sunday Snippets, a wonderful blog hop brought to you by Red Lipstick Diaries...that's right we've moved to our new home already, even though the rest of the fun won't start until June 1st.
Now that I've spilled the good news, lets get back to our regularly scheduled snippets and be sure to stop back by HERE for some other tasty snippets. This week of course I'm continuing with my upcoming release with Excessica, Healer's Touch, Part One. Enjoy this little snippet as Charlie and Kat are close to reaching their destination, Katric. During the journey, they were attacked and Kat was hurt.
The light pressure of masculine fingers against her cheek awoke Kat. Vague memories of her dream and the undeniable pleasure the man waking her had given her had her reluctant to wake. Every muscle in her body still was filled with pleasure, she was warm, and for once her head didn’t hurt. She moved away from the hand by rolling onto her side. She was just on the verge of drifting off again when a sharp smack on her blanket-covered hip jolted her back into wakefulness.“I’m up! I’m up!” Sitting straight up, she rubbed her hip before turning to glare at the man lying next to her.“So am I.” His voice was rough from sleep, and although he had just awakened, his eyes were alert and focused on her. She watched as the green irises darkened to take on a silverish hue. When his tongue ran across his lower lip, leaving it glistening, she found herself irrevocably drawn to the tempting sight. She was within inches of joining their mouths together when his broad hands wrapped around her upper arms and held her away from him.“Charlie?” Even to her own ears, her voice came out husky.“It’s better to not tempt fate.” Even as he spoke, she could feel his gaze focused on her lips.“Tempt fate?”With a gentle strength, in one swift move he rolled her under him, then pinned her arms above her head. “We need to reach Kartic as soon as possible. I want my mother to look at you immediately.” He nuzzled the side of her neck. “As much as I like the softer Kat, I’m ready to have the old Kat back.”“Your mother?” Kat frowned as if something tugged on her memory. When it flitted away, she cursed softly. '“Damn, I almost remembered something.”“Don't rush it. It’ll come in time.” Charles flowed gracefully to his feet and offered her a hand. She smiled as she took it. Effortlessly he lifted her from their rumpled bedding .
Intriguing snippet, Dakota. I think the line about his mother will be on my mind the rest of the day. :-)
