NBP Back to School Bash

So What Do We All Do When the Little Ones Head Back to School?

Well, that's an easy one for me.  I sit back relax, enjoy the peace and serenity for all about 2.5 seconds before the phone starts to ring.  Oh no and it's not my little heathens--I mean darlings.  Nope they are all being good and well behaved little monsters.  Instead of little ones who say, "Mom, we forgot our instrument, or our book bag..." it's usually one of the members of the Music Boosters club or P.T.A. once again saying...."can we count on you to help out again this year?"

Say what? I just sent the kids back and was expecting free time, but instead I'm getting more to add to my plate? But band mom that I am, what do I do.... I say okay sign me up. I blame it on the two things, the first being that I can't say no and the second thing (the more important reason) I just love music - especially marching band.  And I might add, the Scarlet Spectrum's show this year absolutely rocks!  They are doing La Nouba from Cirque de Soliel.

But even as much as I enjoy manning the Pit Crew, chaperoning the kids and even working football concessions to help out, I do not look forward to the long rides in the big yellow school buses.  And of course this year we have several trips which have at least an hour ride one way - heck we have one that is nearly three hours one way at the end of the season.  So what does a chaperone do to pass a couple of hours on a noisy bus full of kids?

READ!

That's right.  I pull out my handy dandy kindle and settle into a good steamy romance to pass the time. (While listening with one ear to make sure the kids are behaving. Plus it's a great way to observe the kids without them knowing. They think you're reading but in all actuality we're peeking periodically at them.)  And I have a trip coming up on Saturday.  And what will I be reading this time? Dual Abduction, the fifth book in Eve Langlais's  Alien Abduction Series - if I don't finish it before then.
So that brings me to contest part of my post.   What kind of book do you like to read to escape the doldrums?  Is it fantasy, sci-fi, romance, erotic romance, heck it even could be fiction.  But you tell me and you'll be entered in a chance to win either a $10 gift card from Barnes and Noble or Amazon - winner's choice or a pick of your choice off my backlist. There will be one grand prize winner and three lucky winners of a free book off my backlist.  Just fill out the entry form below for your chance to win. And there's more than one way to win! I'll be drawing a lucky winners on  October 3rd!

P.S. Don't forget to check out the rest of the peeps on  the hop for more cool prizes. They are listed below the entry form.

  3. Only 1 of my 2 kids go to school full time so I still have 1 home but the 1 home, takes a nap once a day and I will get out my kindle or nook and read whatever the newest book I have gotten (my problem is I can't buy only 1 at a time so I have lots of books on each device that I still have not read plus all the titles in my 2 wishlists)! But my go to genre is romantica with a touch or more of BDSM!

  11. I'm not sure I have a favorite--kind of depends on the mood! I've been enjoying a lot of paranormals lately--I think the fantasy elements of those make the read even more of a "take me away" kind of experience :)
